iMac

Because you listened to the many people who have not got one and have not looked at one but claim PCs are as good :D:D:D:D

Some people have looked at and used them and still think a W7 PC is just as good. Because it is!

:suspect:

Just pointing out the flaws in cetain peoples arguements! ;)

OP: I hope you got the 27" i5, its a cracker!

Ha I agree with you actually, I wasn't commenting on what you said specifically, just the fact that these threads pop up every few days and always end in the same way xD

I have to agree that the 27" i5 QuadCore is a cracker as I got one on monday and loving it to bit

I already have W7 and I can say without a doubt that it's nowhere near as good as the iMac.

Cost certainly was an issue in the past. I looked at buying a new, faster PC for working on my images, but when I compared the prices, there was nothing in it, so took the path that I had been wanting to tread for many years and bought the iMac.

Macs were the standard in the printing industry when I worked there, nuff said I think.

How come everyone is getting this. I went in the Apple store in Bristol at the weekend, boy did it tempt me. Just working a plan to finance it all now. Bought the new track pad. I will probably sell my magic mouse now. So £50 down £1450 to go (I am lucky to get discount as a teacher) Hmmm old iMac 400ish. Wireless keyboard £30. So anyone know a way to ask the wife for £1000 for a new computer without being laughed at or having something thrown in your followed by expletives,

now that statement bothers me somewhat.. (in my professional opinion of course) macs are still only "standard" in media world for 2 reasons..

1) cost to strip out and replace existing hardware/software/retrain staff
2) the old school head of design depts that refuse to budge

pretty much the same reasons why windows based pc are standard for pretty much every other working environment task really.

ive said it many many times, if i was to swap out the design dept macs upstairs for equal spec windows boxes and could hide the fact they were windows i would put all my worldly belongings on a bet that they would notice NO difference in performance or reliability.

although they would see much better integration with the network and other working apps we have and in fact it may actually solve the poxy issues with saving in illustrator CS4 on snow leopard..

(rant over)

I do like a tricked out PC, but saying that nothing has beaten the reliability of my Macbook, which is 5 years old :)
