Lovely colours in all of these
Don't think I've took ten photos I've been happy with this year ha ha
I suppose if it was easy and all that

Quite happy with these from 2018.

5 from me...2018 wasn't as productive as I'd like. Too much bloody work.

I am a big fan of your work - 4 being the winner here and the simplicity of one wonderful. I find that sort of composition of the sea much more alluring than finding some ugly groyne or marker post to act as a composition aide when really, none is needed. Just the sea, sky and beach as god made it. Perfect.

Thanks Steve - that's much appreciated. It definitely helps to have some nice stratified rock cliffs, dramatic waves and distant mountains. They are a bit short in supply down at West Wittering for example :), though #1 could have been anywhere (but there's something pure about that Scottish sand).

I'm heading back up to Scotland in a couple of weeks for another dose of gorgeousness.

@ianmarsh nice series. The bottom middle one is great and I like your Naples shot.
@Tobers whilst Scotland is great - you could get to the Alps or Pyrenees for the same distance and these offer even better scenery with great varied conditions. If Geology is your think you really ought to head to Gavarnie to see something out of this world different.

I can foresee doing a postcard from a similar image to the last one (there were quite a few possibilities) but there's something in this particular one which takes it beyond a postcard image........ isn't there?

I would say so - it deserves to be seen really big. It's Colin Prior esque and I only mean that in a very good way. The 2nd to last is also pretty decent. I'd be happy to call either of those mine.

And a few more

And then one of my last favourite shots which I entered in LPOTY which I only entered because decide I couldn't between 3 other shots.

These are all great images.
Shelter is amazing, my kind of image.
Spotlight is superb too.

What I meant was the rather strange geometrical shape up the hillside on the l.h.s. For me its inclusion takes the image beyond a "standard" landscape image and starts to ask questions. We know that it is probably a zig-zag path but it could be something else.

It was taken on a canon M5 so it may not take enlarging massively very well.

WOW some fab shots on show!!!

Impossible for me to choose the "Best" so here are a dozen of my favourites from 2018 from a brief rummage through my FlickR page. In some kinda chronoligical order...

1. Ripley Castle.
We stumbled across this gem of a place on our way to a short break in and around York.

2. Knaresborough by night.
On the way back from that same trip we stopped here hoping for a sunset but were just too late and the angle was wrong anyway. This shot more than made up for it as it had been on my list for a while! 25 seconds in the perishing cold!

3. Land slip from the Quaraing Road from what has become an annual trip up to Scotland with a few pals. For 2018 we concentrated mainly on Skye - and it didn't let us down!

4. A major box tick for me was Fairy Pools on Skye.
After yomping up the valley past many waterfalls surrounded by many people I eventually ran out but kept going anyway as I hadn't come across the one I'd seen online. Eventually after leaving the throng behind I came across a sign that said "You are now leaving the Fairy Pools area. Do not proceed further unless equiped for the montain environment ahead." Or something like that. So I cracked on further and found it!

5. April saw Likkle Oy get married up at Grange-over-sands. Proud Dad moment for sure! Here's her fave pic of mione from the day - which now hangs on their wall as a big brushed aluminium print.

6. And a fun shot from the end of the day which reminds me of a fab and very proud time!

7. Lionel Ritchie at Leigh Sports Village.
Hard work this one and I nailed it - so proud togger moment. Forced to shoot from way back at the mixing desk I lugged the big Nikon 200-400mm F4 VRII there on a monopod. We had just three songs then were escorted off the premises. I got more than enough keepers for a decent spread in the mag I was shooting for.

8. Ruskin's View over the River Lune at Kirkby Londale is always a fave spot, and this time the in-camera panorama feature on the Fuji X100F nailed it!

Part 2...

9. The X100F again showing its prowess with a hand held shot well after dark at ISO4000. From the harbour wall at Mevagissey in Cornwall.

10. "Gone Fishing" - Whitby.
We had a superb family break in October - staying right overlooking the railway. Here's one of the few shots I took that doesn't have a treain in :D

11. Ok here's a train!
One of my favourite types of steam loco, the Black Five, seen here leaving Whitby just a 1min walk from our digs.

12. And finally, yes, another train. Christmas Eve at Rawtenstall on the East Lancs Railway. Not one of my fave locos but the way I got the full train, bridge, signal and the light makes it a fave shot.
