weekly Bobby Gold's 52 Weeks 2014: Week 13 - STEP added

HI Simon

I'm so glad I read in another post that you'd played a joker for this week....I saw this image & spent 10 mins scratching my head wondering what theme I'd missed :D Still not good with portrait type shots but this looks good to me...and the company you shot it for must think so to ....lovely lighting (y) If I was being really picky I'd mention the shadowy thing on the wall to the right of the model....looks a little odd

Pm sent as mentioned above...most intrigued......:)
Thank you, lighting I played around with a bit until I got what I wanted - it usually takes me around 5-10mins to set-up each shot.

Yes I have to agree on the shadow, I had noticed it before and tbh it is a tad annoying - HmblexHustle had ticked it off so I was happy at that, considering each image needed all the creases taken out the t-shirt as well (sounds easier said than done), it was taking roughly 30mins to an hour to edit each image

Sent you a reply btw (y)

Joker - I have to admit I very nearly played a joker my self, I don't photograph people as I tried once and it was horrid. So on that account no crit from me as I think it is a very good image.
I was going to shoot my last photo for week 52 for this theme but I'm hoping I'll improve over the year to get a better final photo, joker it was :(

Thanks for your comments (y)

Nice shoes! :D

Agree with he comments about the shadow, obviously it's real but in my mind it doesn't match the models pose. :wacky:
Ooo a shoe fetish

I have to also agree on the comments about the shadow but not that it doesn't match, the rear lighting is coming from out the window behind the wall to the left, so the shadow that your seeing is from the hand that is resting on her knee (y)

Well composed, good lighting and colours...attractive model.

Crit, not keen on the green leaves LHS.

Good joker and you still have time to post a Positive ;)

Cheers.

Nice composition and lighting. Don't like the shoes though as my daughter has just gone 'oh wow want some'
Hahah I'm guessing they have that effect... if it's any consultation she is selling them "I can't wear them again now I've had my photo taken in them, people will have seen me in them"o_O

Here is my submission for "Positive"... Eneloop batteries, I know, boring! Not that positive, but it has like the positive bits on it? Yeah? Maybe? Lol... I know it's a poor effort so please go easy on me.

Lost for inspiration for another week running - I do hope these themes start to pick up soon as I'm starting to consider taking on my own Fifty Two away from TP :(

OOoooooo very nice... The Eneloops that is, ever since Slimbert introduced them to me, damn they are good :D

As for the image, yet another well staged and well lit product shot (y)

Ahhhh I know we have had a tough few, but hey thats the idea, a TRUE challenge, stretching ones imagination to come up with a twist to the theme, however tenuous it may be :)

This.

If I didn't know you...which I don't.....I'd call you a Ringer ;)

Cheers.

By far the best batteries I've ever owned, worth the extra money - paired with the Maha C801 it's beast!

Yeah I'll stick to it just having a bit of an open moan lol, if I hadn't of started this in the first place I would have never got the shots I did which I'm happy with (Bubble and Smoke) so yeah I'm sure there will be more photo opportunities like that to arise again.

As always thanks for your comments and input (y)

Great reflections and really like the BG. Really enjoying your work even if you're not (y)
Thank you glad you like it, tbh I enjoyed the PP on this one. I'm surprised I haven't had comments on the text so far... Might have got away with it this time lol.
I think he means like when say a pub Dart team chucks in a pro or 'Ringer' instead of a standard player.
Ah ok I see, I've never really heard that term before so it kinda threw me (yes I have been living under a rock for the past god knows how many years) :)

Another good shot Simon, your pp skills are great (y)...............I reckon you could do this for a living .........:D

Really hard to fault that one Simon.... composition, lighting, even the text.

........... as I'm starting to consider taking on my own Fifty Two away from TP :(...

I really hope you don't.... The way I judged the effectiveness of my 52 last year was by the shots that I like/ am proud of, that I wouldn't have taken had I not been doing it...
Also, don't forget that you are giving a lot of inspiration to others, and "showing how it should be done", (no pressure now!) :)

battery porn

... been waiting for an excuse to use that smilie

Hi, have to agree with superpippo above about the standby set up
your use of light is excellent and the composition works, they are very good advertising shots and a lesson in how to present an ordinary object.
The one thing I would like to see is a little more of yourself in them
I do like what you do honest (y)

I might just be having a bit of a blonde moment... But what do you mean by ringer?

Oi ....careful mister :p I own the rights to blonde moments round these parts...& senior moments as well come to think of it :D

Another perfect product shot Simon...you really are very good at these...I guess the blue curvy stripes are light painting ? & what are these Eneloops ? & more importantly.....do I need some ?

Positive: Brilliant work again. So well executed. The composition works well and the blues tones nicely balanced throughout the picture. I like the sharp focus on the horizontal battery and the way the focus drops off subtley on the vertical ones. where all batteries captured in the one shot? As lynn above, would like to know how you achieved the blue curvy stripes too. No crit required on this one, though do find myself wondering how it would look with the opacity of the blue cury lines lowered a bit

Brilliant work (y)
