DPOTY26 - Chat thread

If anyone fancies posting their 'also-ran pictures for the Spring theme, I've popped up a thread here.

Well done @TimHughes and @cptnm for joint winners in April, in a good set of submissions. Here's the leader table:

I'm not on the bottom of it!!!!!

I thought I'd have a go at some challenges as I'm finding 'getting out there' challenging at the moment with juggling work and other things (which I'm not quote sure why they take up so much time!). I hope that I'm doing it by the rules; I have an entry from when I was on holiday in Shropshire a few weeks ago that fits the bill. It's a 1:1 ratio - hope that is ok.

All ok Philip. So long as an entry was taken and processed later than 1st December last year, it's fine.
The challenges are a good way to focus effort when inspiration is lacking, but I too find it diffficult to make time for actual photography, it's not uncommon.
The poll is now up

I've noticed that this year, admittedly having entered a little more than in the past, the quality of my images has improved a little, at least I believe that is the case thanks to getting some votes for them. This isn;t a self-congratulatory post though, even though I'm pleased with myself, but it is noteworthy because it demonstrates that making the effort to participate in the challenges on TP not only gets one to do more photography, but it also tends to develop one's ability to take half-decent photographs through making that effort and trying to do well. I've learnt that lesson this year in the DPOTY and to a lesser degree in FPOTY and the 52, as I'm entering those two less often, and it's really motivating me.
I just wanted to write this in case any other members are having doubts or unsure about joining in.

Wow, thanks guys, that wasn't expected. :D

Well, mine does what it says on the tin - at least it's in. :)

That man walking g in the rain, I know where it was taken almost sure

Some beautiful entries for June are already in, I see. I'm still hanging on in the hope of some more rain before the end of the month!

Can't wait to join this, it seems fun .. looking forward to seeing the challenge for July :) ... I have just taken up photography so it will defiantly help me with my skills I think!
Also worth looking at the 52 challenge, a weekly themed challenge where you start your own 52 thread with as many entries as you want per weekly theme and then submit your favourite to the group thread each week.
It runs from Jan - Dec but as its a personal challenge I think (might want to check) you can join any time if you're just looking for inspiration to get out and shoot. You can set your personal thread for 'critique' or 'just sharing' depending on how you want others to reply to your thread.
You can find it here if you're interested :)

Welcome aboard Denise, you won't have to wait too long I'll be posting the July thread tonight.

Oi Paul @Topsy stick to your own challenge old chap, DPOTY is mine! Seriously, I'll be posting the July topic thread tomorrow, although the themes for the year are already available here so that people can get a head start.
Paul's challenge is the Alphabet challenge for which need he will be posting the new theme/letter tonight, but he doesn't advertise the themes ahead of time. Why not aim to do both challenges, or dip in and out of all of them? That's what I do.

Oops, wrong thread  :$ Sorry Lindsay too quick to post a reply (and too thick to read the thread title).

We lost our darling little man last year and it is far too painful to get another dog just yet, so this is Lars. One of wifeys many teddy bears.

I've deleted Denise's comment in the Images thread, she may not be aware but we say all comments should be here in the Chat thread not in the Images thread. That applies to all challenges.
