The boring stuff...

Rules..
Images must be taken in the month of the theme and posted here before the end of the month.
Images taken at the Nifty Fifty focal length on full frame or the equivalent focal length on crop bodies, ie. Canon 1.6 crop body plus 35 prime or 30mm on zoom etc.
No lens modifiers, this is about the purity of the Nifty Fifty FL and being close to the human eye.
Tiny crop to straighten allowed, try to keep the image as close to what the lens would see.
Cropping to new ratio, ie 16:9, is allowed, but please keep to full width and as a last resort, it is about the purity of the view from the lens above all else.
The theme will be posted on the first of each month, in the title bar of the image thread.
Shoehorns, even Lube and Crowbars are allowed to squeeze into the theme ;)
A poll will be added at the end of the month, (just for fun, no records will be kept).
Please list gear used.
Open to all, no sign up required.
One entry only please.

Good to see (y)

First of the year is up :)

I'll try and give this a go. I'll have to use a zoom set to 30mm on my crop canon though.

I've got a couple of ideas, ones a non-starter as it means a very long drive. The others, I need time and ideally a some better wheather. Still a few weeks left.

For 11 months of the year this would be an easy topic for me, January is a bit more challenging though.

Haha it worked :) My daughter got some fancy roller-blade wheels for her computer chair :ROFLMAO:

My January 'rubbish' shot is in.

What happened to the "Runner Up" thread?
I didn't add it as it hasn't been used since April '24, I'll add the link to the rules post above too :)

It's here if you wish to post more.

(Or feel free to add them to the chat thread here.)

I went out and got some "wheels" images today, but only realised once I had left the house that I didn't have my 35mm lens...

I had a bit of a eureka moment this morning.

I think I once read that 50mm represents the field of view of a human.

I always wondered why I could see wider than a 50mm lens.

This morning I considered "depth of field of view" and I was surprised to find that 50mm got me a lot nearer to my eyes.

I think it relates to the perspective of the FoV being similar to our eyes.

the FOV of human eye is more precisely considered to be 43mm (55 degrees) .. the very most of camera systems has 43mm prime available ..

Mine is up . . . Title = Car-Board . . . purchased form a charity shop just for this photo! Some 'crackers from you guys again this month but at least I'm trying too :p

I was a desperate man this month. The guys surfacing our street seem to put up with a lot of complaints so me appearing with my camera didn't help. I did try and explain "blah, blah picture competition etc" but I don't think the message got a sympathetic response. :)

Aye, the suffering we have to endure for the love of our hobby! ;)

I can see a lot wider than 50mm, but if I look at a picture so I can see it all comfortably I get 50mm field of view.

One of myphotographer friends now sadly passed was an optician, he said our natural field of view was around 45mm equiv. he also said only a tiny part part of that was really sharp, apparently we "see" a circle" or around 75mm in focus, anything on the edges of what we look at is blured (like many of my photos...) as we look around the focused area is only what we actually look at.

The urban thread is going slow, I've got an idea, but I just havent had the time to go to the location I have in mind, and the weathers not helping either.

I’m meeting some friends from a camera group on facebook tomorrow, in Chelmsford. I’m hoping to get something there… failing that, I might just have to head into Southend in the week (but hopefully not!)

This is difficult, not least because I prefer a wide angle lens for typical urban shots.
