The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Hi. Looking for decent third party alternatives to the NP-W126s for my X-T2. I have two ChilliPower ones already but they are the older NP-W126 model and in my Grip they are empty within literally 3 minutes of turning the camera on, at that stage I am just carrying around dead-weight. I also have a red coloured Baxxtar battery, again, absolutely useless.

Now, the price of the OEM Battery on Amazon UK seems to have come right down to £39.99 (Compared to Fuji themselves charging 65 quid!) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fujifilm-NP-W126S-Lithium-Ion-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B01I4RNPQ6

I have however seen the PATONA brand ones on Amazon too, I can get two batteries for £33 https://www.amazon.co.uk/PATONA-Pla...85406779&rnid=1642204031&s=electronics&sr=1-4

Anyone have experience of these or other lower cost brands? I need two batteries for the grip as I don't want to mix two brands in the same accessory (I don't mind the main body having the OEM one).

Thanks, Dan.

Dan, are they actually empty, or just showing empty? I have a couple of the Chilli ones in my grip and they show empty, but carry on working for ages.

When I am doing video the camera stops recording the second the battery shows empty, ruined so many clips this way. In that context it doesn't really matter if it is a read issue or an actual discharge issue as the outcome is the same, the camera stops filming.

I don't do really do video, so I haven't experienced that...

The Patona batts are highly recommended by many, I've seen pairs for cheaper though cannot remember where [it was quite a while back, maybe they have just gone up with popularity] , but it's worth it if they do the job proper. Less than half the price of official batts per unit. If I shot a lot of video I'd grab a couple packs of them, I just have 2 official batts and they are plenty enough for my stills shooting. The other batts that oft get recommended are Ex-pro, but they'll be about the same price as the Patona

Something I have just started up trying to learn, it's interesting feeling like a total idiot using a camera when I've been taking photos since I was a child, but video is so different, nice new challenge :ROFLMAO:

"Excellent" landscape/seascape Fujigraph, nuff said.

Thanks very much, George.

As it's been so sunny over the past few days, I tried chasing some light and shadows around my home, just a bit of fun and trying to be creative.

Great idea and some very original images, Vera!

Took the camera out and composed this little shot whilst there. It's noting special but lightened my mood and distracted me for a few minutes.
Edited in PS using classic chrome preset which I'm taking a real liking to.

Such a simple subject but a really lovely result, Stuart. I must delve into the Fuji presets and experiment.

That‘s a gorgeous image, Andrea. Very apt at this time. I really hope that people come out the other side of this gloomy period with a better appreciation of the great outdoors. This picture really captures what we are missing at the minute.

Thanks very much, Jason. We were a bit behind the UK in going into lockdown and when I drove past and saw this scene I was glad I had my camera on me. There was a sense of the sun setting on the old normal and this being the final opportunity for such freedoms. Like you, I hope we don't take it for granted in future.

A couple of people have pointed out that it's good to see the people were maintaining their safe distances, too!

fortunate to have enough Fuji batteries at the moment but used Expro on my Nikon and worked fine. Charged perfectly in the Nikon charger and didnt register as non-nikon battery on the camera

I’m using these. They’re very good. Don’t bring up any on-screen messages

I am just so wary of all of these brands. My Chilli Power ones don't have any errors either but they cannot cope with the power delivery needed for video. Have you used these for any 4k?

Nope. Don’t do video. Get as much stills shooting on theses as the genuine battery’s. Hahnel are long established with a good reputation.

Sorry too late got one, thanks anyway.:)

I went into the garden to have a squint at the ISS as it passed this evening. Whilst outside I thought i'd have a go at photographing the moon, i'm quite pleased with the result considering this was handheld and given the settings and the XC lens (it is very much cropped in). I am LOVING this Fujifilm X system! ...

Well after managing to have the shutter button (and on/off switch) fall off my x-t2 while photographing the Dunhill Cup golf at St Andrews back in October I've finally ordered another one (used) from Wex - should be here in four days or so.

So I'll be revisiting my love/hate relationship with this wee beast - there's a lot I love about it but a few things I dislike a fair bit.

And now that I'm working from home for the foreseeable future I'll have loads of time to sit and get it set up to minimise the bits I'm not keen on.

I've got two Pantona ones in my grip - they work well - not sure if they last as long as the OEM ones but I've had no problem with them at all.

When shooting the moon, don't be shy about upping the SS, and dropping the ISO. I've found on very clear nights I can get away with settings you'd norm use in daylight as the moon can get stupidly bright.
