Pic(s) you took today - an open thread

Hi, I had to drive a car a little. So, I went to Mainz to take pics for the brutalism thread. The MAG-Hotel :

Hi, Christmas Roses in the neighbourhod (ours don't show before Easter, poor quality - or waiting for better weather ? ( ;) )) :

Local Merc dealer.

Hi, quite a large outlet. The prices look as absurd as they are here ... (Which reminds me, I must have one of my cars serviced and MOTed. )---

A frosty morning :

Preparing the fields for the sowing of winter-wheat (the farmer told me) :

My wife's mini is being MOT'd Friday. :p

This is the Oxford Mercedes main dealer. The G-class on the end is selling used for £76,000.

Hi, G class holds its value very well. - The other day, I had a conversation with an owner (whose was 140000 € new), who told me that they have a delivery time of 3 years now.

Almost as it was from the 60s to the 70s, when contracts close to delivery were sold with an uplift, and Mercedes employees could sell the cars they bought at a 15% discount
at the price of new cars (which had yearly price rises) ... ---

This ended at the beginning of the 80s, when we had a recession in Germany. It was feared then that unemployment could rise to 1 million.

(All politicians would like to have crises like that nowadays ... --- )

I came close to buying (an old) one in the 80s - was it called the Kubelwagen then? Loved the idea but fuel consumption was completely horrendous, even by landrover standards.

Hi, a triumphal arc to mark the administrative triumph when the local government of several villages was consolidated ... --- :

Hi, traveled a lot today, on business. - But after that, I visited the cemetery in Schwelm/D:

Then I went to the Hauptfriedhof (central cemetery) in Bochum/D. I find the architecture from 1930s interesting. It might be called proto-brutalism :

Always busy around Köln (Cologne) :

Snow in the mountains, and more to come. So I went home quickly ... :

Last weekend we discovered multiple sloe bushes that were still laden - this year has seen the most amazing sloe productivity - so on the principal of making hay under an orb of fusing hydrogen we went back today.

That's just a whisky bottle - contents already enjoyed. [emoji4]
