.... And so it should be on Explore! Absolutely superb in every way - Strong composition, colour, statement. Faultless in my opinion [wearing my 'retired-but-hardwired' professional art director's hat].

You're very kind.

I'm narked that i didn't wait half a second for the person furthest off, specifically their wheelie suitcase, to clear the edge of the tunnel  :D

(I probably could have tidied it up in photoshop, but that's not the kind of thing I do very often)

That adds to the picture, IMO. Gives the feeling of disappearing into a tunnel.
.... Rob, I agree with Garry - The fact that the furthest figure is partially obscured leads the eye into the beyond. It adds to the dynamic.

First Explore since moving away from wildlife photography. :)

.... Expressing a superb understanding of capturing light - What photography is all about IMO.

I think that as you get older, trekking around seeking wildlife shots becomes more of a challenge. I haven't reached that stage yet I am glad to say but I certainly no longer feel up to travelling overseas for wildlife. At least I have been there and done that.

Cheers Robin ... yes trekking and carrying heavy gear took its toll ... city wildlife is less stress on the hips and knees!

.... I'm trying to work out the scale of that! Although one doesn't need to. Great picture which could be a footprint or the size of a football pitch or even bigger.

Robin
I have seen comments suggesting it was mistaken for something by NASA and one expressing it was an odd thing to photograph. It is about 15 feet across the frame from my recollection. As you say scale is not the point it is one of a set taken in few minutes while my wife waited for me no doubt thinking what is the idiot up to now.
If I had a tripod with my I could have spent some time on my own working on compositions.

I have only ever had two of my pictures in Explore, this one in the summer time.

In both cases, in my eyes at least, not the best photographs I took on those respective days.

It all seems a bit random.
.... For years photographers have tried to work out how Flickr Explore selects its images and there have been all sorts of theories but none of them proven.

Anyroadup, it is what it is (as they say on Love Island) and worse things happen at sea (says a mate of mine who has survived a ship which sank in armed conflict in The Falklands).
