Really like 1 and 4 great DoF in the first one and the vivid colour in 4
Definitely #1 for me. The contrast between the mountains and the foreground make a great shot. Lovely colours too.
Like No1 aswell, but the one you chose for the main thread is very good, love the mountains in the background, some incredible scenery you have there.
Nice set Alex, #1 landscape stands out for me
Some nice images there, I think you chose the right one for the week. Its a good composition with some very nice layering.
A lovely set Alex - the colours are just beautiful. Your choice for the week is my favourite of the bunch too.
Thanks all - it was a nice area to explore!Glorious colours and soft focus works well in your choice for the topic.
What a great image you can almost feel it closing in on you
I love the colours and detail Alex
Well you're just showing off now, what a great shot!
I'm not sure I'd fancy being in quite such a tight spot. Sounds far too narrow!
Thanks all - I've borrowed a couple of pictures from my wife (with her permission!)OOH now that's a stonker!
Great shots for the theme, totally love the first one as it closes around the viewer.
In the interests of not making an International Relations faux pas in the style of either our glorious heir to the realm or right honourable Prime Minister, no comment!!That's a cracker of a shot. The blue, highlight and shadow are perfectly exposed. I can see why not many people visit, 'cause the yanks are too big to go through those gaps.
Thanks Tim - I was really pleased with how the sharp beaver tail needles came outIt seems it's been a while I've been here to comment, so a bit of a catch up...
Narrow - I love the vibrant colours of the blue contrasting with the orange (fading to black).
Food - #3 was your choice? It is certainly mine, though#1 comes a very close second imo.
Sharp - (Or at least I assume that's what they are). Yes #3 is the one. I think because of hte way you've caught the light with it.
Digital Age - I'm going to go with the film shot, it's somehow more engaging in B&W.
Free Week - #1 for me. Loving the details.
It was a bit of a squeeze I must admit!Excellent shot.. can't add to anything else said. Looking at the other image it more than fits the description - that is narrow!
I have no idea to what you are referringChoice
Brilliant colours there.
Narrow
I'm not going to say what I thought when I first saw this (it may be deemed a little rude/inappropriate for the forum)
I really quite like the shot, that narrow slither of blue sky, contrasts well with the reds/orange's of the rocks.
Thanks!Narrow. A cracker of a shot Alex. Great colour contrast of those rocks with the sky.
It was an absolutely fascinating place. Three years is not going to be enough time to explore this areaPerfect image for the theme - look like a great place to visit.
I have a friend living just out side Tuscon, his names Brad do you know him?Tucson Arizona
Good shot Shug and great story. I appreciate the history lesson.
Thank you! It's one of the few areas around here that we've visited which actually has history, so I may have gone over the top... Las Vegas was only founded in 1912, and didn't really get going until the nuclear age so history is in short supply!Nice pic Alex and always like to hear the stories behind shots like this.
You would not believe the number of times I've been asked that question...I have a friend living just out side Tuscon, his names Brad do you know him?
Great story, great image, I like it Alex
Nice image and again great light the Wild West really does still exist
The graveyard was extensively restored in the 30s and 40s (by the last person to be buried there - Emmett Nunnelley) and most of the markers were replaced. I'm not sure how long wood would last in the area - even in places like Joshua Tree and Saguaro National Parks you don't see a lot of dead fall - there's still enough moisture to let them rot away pretty quickly.Wow. We really only see this stuff in Spaghetti Westerns, so it's incredible to see the real things.
Thanks for sharing.
That's a pretty cool image. And amazing that the headstone is actually wood - presumably the original? so 140 years old...
Thanks Phil.Well spotted take on the theme. Pity your closer shot didn't work out - I would have been tempted to crop this version more - loads of detail on your Flickr image.
Thanks! We decided to visit as early as possible to avoid as many people as possible...Paper
Don't apologize for the explanation, it's was very interesting.
I bet this would look great at dusk, with long shadows and a seeing sun.
Thanks Helen!Nice story behind the image. No apologies necessary
I would actually. I spent a few months in NE SD staying with friend awhile back. You would not believe the number of times I've been asked that question...
Another good camera phone take
Nice close-up and the colour adds to the pic.
Interesting pic looks so far away from traditional cameras, I like how you have just focused on the camera part of the phone makes a different image
Thanks folks for the kind comments - I was a little uninspired last weekPretty cool. I do like the tight crop into the lens section of the phone.
