but really like the wording with the added mote Hi, it works because it's personal to you, not the most exciting pic on it's own but with your explanation it's perfect![]()
I completely "get" your image for this theme Jill. Silence can be the best sound of all.
I crave it often.
2 good pics for 2 tough weeks Jill
the apple does look a bit soft but then you would have lost the stand out of the a so its a better of 2 options.
And completely agree with your sound sentiments its defiantly the greatest sound of all for me.
Hi Jill,
when I first saw your photo it reminded me of the notices on the outside exam rooms (and made me shiver), but having read your explanation I can really understand your think behind it - I'm finding that my tolerance of noise is going rapidly downhill as I get older and I don't have the complications you have. It is a simple image, but it works really well
Hey Jill
Machine - now there is some shoot load of cable there !!! - really like old machines like this, the string on the handles is great, liking the colour too, has a nice old feel to it
Re-Shoot - Nice marina image, always like the look of reflections of boats, this one especially has a very metallic feel to the water, also liking the buildings appear to be decreasing size through the shot
Alphabet - Nice simple idea, very effective, liking the appley green background too
Sound - A nice bright image again and a different take on the theme, not so keen on the wood for some reason thoughbut really like the wording with the added note

Sound; two songs come to mind when I saw the shot with the musical note. Silence is Golden by The Tremeloes and The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel.

Perfectly understandable given the explanation.
Hi Jill
making it personnal to you works really well, your words give it context...& yes, after a day at work in a constantly noisy environ there's nothing I like better than pure silence....so I reckon that's a bigfrom me
Hi Dean thanks for taking the time to look and comment so positively. I appreciate itIt's always nice to be told you're doing ok
And the prize goes to @rpn![]()
That's exactly the 2 songs I had in my mind when I included the musical note![]()
Jill, going to make a cuppa tea to go with the cookies.
So started again. This was a shot that was going to need patience as it takes at least 24 hours to change colours and to show where the flowers take up the dye. Well there must have been something wrong with the food colourings I had because only one of them really made a difference - the blue. The red sort of made a colour change but barely perceptible so the main pic is a failed experiment really

Blue certainly worked Jill!
Red, green and the one on the right are definitely having a go too.
I'd say the shot with them all is bang on theme!
I like the idea behind silence. Nice colours, nice composition and on theme. Experiment is a fair old crack at a horrible theme, I prefer the single carnation shot, just because of the varying results in the multiple shot. Maybe a completely different background colour though, I'd be stuck as to what though.
Hey Jill, I've missed your thread
A failed experiment is still an experiment!
I like the lower image with all the flowers. It makes me want to spend time looking to see if any others have taken on the colour. The glasses with the food dye serve to give some nice vibrant colour to the image. I quite like the way it's almost as if the blue flower has said "sod you lot - I'm turning blue". To be honest, I really like the creme background. It compliments the flowers and softens and warms the overall image. I think white would really change the shot, but as it stands it's perfect (for me)
Really like it Jill. Well done.
Hi, well the blue definitely worked such a pity about the others as that would have been bloody impressive, great idea though![]()

Hi Jill, the 2nd shot for me, I like the array of colours there, composition is spot on, highlights are a bit blown, but I think it still works very well.
Much respect Jill! The blue one works perfectly on its own and is a lovely image. I tried the same thing using red dye, because everyone knows that one red sock in the wash and everything comes out pink. But almost a week later all I have is a very white, but very wilted flower, so it seems that flowers are much more discerning than clothes. Well done![]()
Not a failed Experiment at all: blue works, the others don't.
I like to see all those glassfuls of colour lined up like that.![]()
Really good submission for Experiment and a lot of thought applied to it. I'd prefer it a bit brighter and it's a pity you could not get more colours in the petals.
I like the composition and well done for persevering
Cheers.
Hi Jill,
you are so good at coming up with ideas for these themes! I think your experiment shot is the best of the week![]()
I prefer the second (first?) shot - the one with them all lined up. For me, it really underlines the fact that the flower has taken up the dye (rather than being painted, or some new blue & white variety). Great stuff![]()

Hi there,
A bit of a catch up from me...
Crowd: I like the first one - the bold simplicity just works. Good for a mobile shot too
Close up: A nice pair of shots. I love the colours & lines in No2.
Machine: I like this a lot. Loads going on in there. Plenty to see if you zoom in on Flickr
Scenic reshoot: Nice shot. Good light too.
Alphabet: Great idea - nice and simple
Sound: I like the concept and understand the concentration issue. I struggle to concentrate on one conversation if there is another one happening in my earshot.
Experiment: Wow! No 2 for me. Cracking idea. I think I will have a go at this. It's definitely not a failed experiment - you had an idea and went for it - well done you![]()
Alphabet - Definitely hits the theme with a for apple. Whilst a little noisy I do like the choice of green background. I also feel the choice of a square crop works well here
Sound - I must say this isn’t your best image so far but together with the text background you wrote it suddenly makes it quite poignant.
Experiment - Great idea although I have to say that as Sarah also was going to do this when she gets back at the weekend from a school outdoor adventure trip. She won’t be happy when she finds out LOL. Anyway cracking execution. Maybe a tad more exposure which can always be adjusted in PP but other than that it’s great. A actually like the gin flower with the petals that have turned in colour

& not failed at all...the blue one has worked wonderfully, love the darker bits on the edges of the petals.....
Have to ask.......the blue seems to be almost clear fluid as does the red , the others see more opaque - did you mix the color with something ? Just curious as I quite fancy playing with the idea...if you don't mind that is ?Love number 2 "Experiment" Jill, great work
Phil
Hi Jill
fab idea for experiment, top marks for ingenuity& not failed at all...the blue one has worked wonderfully, love the darker bits on the edges of the petals.....

Like going to school coming here, learning something new every time. Didn't know you can change the colour of flowers by putting them in colour water!.
Experiment; well done just for the effect but I do like the single carnation shot.
Nicely shot, both actually. Definitely an EXPERIMENT. I saw it evey year at the primary school where I used to work!
Hi Definitely the first one for me, good line up and nice touch with the water spray, BG top right not totally black a small point, excellent reds and nicely lit![]()
Number 1 for me too Jill, nice image, the theme caught well.
