Had a walk in Roundhay Park, Leeds to capture a local interest for week 1 - and an added bonus of a silhouette.
Barran's fountain, Roundhay Park by Philip Stanley, on Flickr
Barran's fountain was built in 1882 by John Barran MP to provide drinking water for park visitors. Restored in 2004 but without a water supply. John Barran was a Liberal MP for Leeds and later for Otley, a clothing manufacturer and Leeds benefactor - being instrumental in creating Roundhay Park. He lost his seat in parliament in 1895 and was created a baronet (little has changed it seems!).
