weekly Purplepleasers 2016 52 Flora

I like the toes over the overflow with the soap on sponge above ... different. :)

Well...aren't I mister picky.....but I prefer the original. ... just needed bringing up a notch in exposure or brightness... like the peek a boo toes look. .. the bubbles all around.... as for soap and sponge :D great positioning..

I like them all Lee for Personal but my favourite is the first reshoot, it just has a bit more punch to it. The second reshoot would have been my fave if the foot hadn't been quite too central.

Living world - a different take on the theme.

Spiky - I am sorry it's not really doing anything at all for me.

Artificial - good attempt on the theme, I do like the bright colours.

Personal - certainly works for the theme, I think the image with the remote works best.

Hi,

As usual not happy with this image for the Effort theme. I have been on 12hr days short turn round then 12hr nights. Poor excuse but the best i could muster. I had this image in my brain from the off but was wary of the people in the gym.

Hi Lee. Weary or wary of the people in the gym. Have to say, I would be conscious of taking pics in the dark of night. You did well with this one compositionally and like the fact that you have managed the variance in lighting from the shaded area of the sign to the bright lights of the gym, leaving detail in each.

Hiya Carl. Thanks for commenting. I did mean wary, my spelling is rubbish. Not to good with words to be honest. It was around 6am when I took this picture and there were more people in the gym than I was expecting.

im wary of pointing the lens too obviously into a window...but would they see you if light inside and dark out... its still an intriguing image.. the eye has to work harder to think its sees round further into the gym... like it.. don't spoon feed the viewer.. (y)

Hey PP.
I checked back over your images (and as I thought) you do seem to have a penchant for shots through or with windows.
I would say this is the best of that genre so far.
As others have said, you've done well with the lighting and retained a great deal of detail, especially in the shadows.
Nice one (y)

Hi there Lee,

I really like this shot. It's a good fit to the theme but not only that, the image works for me on it's own with lots to draw the eye in. The person in the gym, the lit sign, the CCTV camera with it's own view on the scene. The mono conversion works very well too. (y)

Hi Lee, that's a good choice of subject and well composed to show the person inside the gym, with the bright interior contrasting with the dark outside. You've controlled the exposure well too, with such extremes across the frame, and the security camera in the top corner is a nice touch; pointing the other way to you as you lurk in the shadows. It all combines to provide a voyeuristic feel.

Artificial - I prefer the colour one. both work well for the theme.
Personal - I like the first reshoot best
Effort - certainly a lot of effort expended in there

Effort.....Taken just as you were about to enter the establishment for your spin class Lee, yes? ;)

thanks for all the positive comments, the more I look at this one the more I like it.

Been a strange few days off work, hospitals, doctors and the gym, not necessarily in that order. This is the idea that popped into my mind from the theme being posted. I do think that wifi is a brilliant addition to a camera. I am not sure which is best of these two photos.

Hi Lee ....I like the fact that you haven't used a solid background, it works really well. I think it has to be the first one for me, although the second one is interesting, the image a the top of the 'pile' is maybe a bit too bright. It will be interesting to see what others think.

:plus1:to what d00d has said below.

Yes, #1 Lee. I agree with Susie about your choice of bg - I think a solid one would not have worked as well. Good choice for theme.

OOOOH .... I like #1 .... you do a mean mono image Lee. (y)
Effort - I like this shot and an excellent choice for the theme.
Technology - No. 1 for me

I like the first too - the dof works better for me here - very sharp and clean looking.
Technology 1 is spot on for me also, Lee. A very good idea well executed.
Really like No1 love it the angle
technology - Right on Theme and suits the b+w
I'm preferring the first one for Technology Lee, the mono really makes the screen stand out nicely (y)

Thanks for the cool comments, Like I said been in and out of hospital this last week with my dad, full body stroke (bleed on the spinal column), not as bad thankfully as it sounds, very early days but positive signs of movement. I think I might fall behind in the next week or so. I will try and keep up and comment on as many 52's as possible.

So sorry to hear that Lee - hope he's on the mend soon.

Hi Lee, sorry to hear of your father's health issues - I do hope he recovers fully. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

A couple of good images for technology; I'm not 100% convinced by the background - I find myself wanting to see what's there lurking in the shadows, which detracts slightly from the subject. But still well taken shots and nice processing to boot.

Hi Lee, firstly sorry to read about your Dad and I do hope hes making good progress.

The 52 pales into insignificance compared to what you're dealing with, but just to say that I really like image #1; it's simple and effective and conveys the theme very well. B&W is definitely the right choice for this and I like the non-solid background, which gives it a more natural, less "product shot" feel (y)

thanks for the kinds thoughts and well wishes.

Personal - Nice idea! I like your reshoot, particularly the first picture, because the foot stands out more.

Effort - Works for me. :) I like the contrast of dark area vs. brightly lit building.

Technology - That’s messing with my head! (Especially the second one.) It’s a photo of your phone with a photo of your phone with lots of photos of your phone piled on it? Anyway good job. I do like the unusual background.

Hope your dad’s getting better.

Been a good week for my dad, real progress. Specialists arguing that he could not and should be doing so well. I felt that a walk was in needed to clear my head. Couple from tonight, quite happy with this one for a change. I prefer the first which is added to the 52 image only thread.

Two very good takes as usual Lee, I agree with your pick of the first for the theme, there are some good horizontal elements which are emphasised by the framing.
