weekly DK's 52 of 2015 - wk 52 'Christmas' added - FINISHED

#1 for me too. Great detail in the joints and metal fixings in the FG - particularly like the orange rust staining against the vibrant green-yellow grassy tuft. Great fg interest.

Hi DK, I do like a good graveyard, they are crying out for a black and white conversion

The first one for support, lovely clean pic the second one has a few issues with the light on the uprights

I like #1 better. I like the low viewpoint, the inclusion of the rusty bolt and the grass. the reddish and green colours really add to the overall image. Not sure what's the slight blue cast? Over processed may be?
Cheers Stan :)

Hmmm hadn't noticed a blue cast... have now - Doh :D

Yes probably the processing, I should have tweaked the WB again once I had finished :)

For me #1 has worked better but I prefer the idea of #2.
Thanks Choppie :)

I too would have prefered the timbers of two under the Pier but it wasn't pretty under there at all !!!

Really like #1. Like how it captures the signs of wear & tear that affect all “supports”
Thanks Matthew :)

Cheers Allan :)

I really should do a B&W conversion a bit more often, keep saying I will but very rarely do, I think it's that I struggle getting a strong enough conversion to my liking

The first one for support, lovely clean pic the second one has a few issues with the light on the uprights
Thanks... and very polite, 'issues' is an understatement

Yo DK

Support #1 amazing detail, colour and composition. (y)
Ooo Thanks David :)

Two smashing shots DK, I think one is my favourite it has wonderful vibrancy about it, a great composition and bang on theme.
The second one does have something fascinating about it though, it makes you want to look at it o_O
Thanks too Susie :)

I know what you mean about the second, it has big problems with blowing on outer edges but that is how it looked to the eye too I guess... all a bit fuzzy :D

Lovely light in #1, I think I'd like it much closer to the grass and main support. Lovely colours and light.

#2 is nice but there some weird bus in there, might work well as a B&W.

Cheers.

Hi DK,

Tear: Very nice and a perfect fit to the theme. Great detail when seen on Flickr.
Words: All good shots but No. 3 hits the mark. Very powerful and perfect use of DoF.
Support: I like the first shot for the natural look but I like the second shot for the symmetry. However, the second shot does have a strange effect against the brightness which is distracting. No.1 for me.

Number one for me. I wasn't sure about it at first but the more I looked the more it interested me. That's always a good thing to have in a photo I think. Great stuff.

Annnnd another suggestion for B&W ... gets me thinking again :)

Hi DK,

Thanks Lee, flickr sure does bring out the shots better imho, glad you agree :)

Thanks again Lee :)

Sounds familiar, a common response that will continue I thinks - Thanks :)

Cheers Brian, nice of you to say (y)

A couple of catch ups from me... all a bit quick so nothing special, but happy with them for the time being...

Firstly Medical, I wanted to try and pick something a bit different, so after a bit of contemplating I thought about the Health and Safety wording on a paint can, I included another can sat behind it to give the shot a bit of depth and context which I feel has worked, not so sure on the immediate view of the text, but once you know where it is I think it works :D

So here it is - Wk 27 Medical

Wk 27 - Medical by TP DK, on Flickr

And onto the next catch up - Religion/Religious

Well again not the most exciting but I quite like what I ended up with, there is something about old ruins that I really like, I drive past this one nearly every day and popped into my mind as soon as the theme was announced, I wanted some good weather to get the best detail which I hope I got today...

My interpretation - Wk 33 - the demise of 'Religion'

Wk 33 - The demise or 'Religion' by TP DK, on Flickr

Wow love your geometric, those shots are harder than they look you have the grout lines perfect (y)

For support definitely #1 although #2 could work for geometric as well ;)

Medical it took me a while to see - but then I'm looking on a phone with dodgy internet connections so it could just be me!

Religion I think is very symbolic and has great colour but the mass of green in the middle distracts a bit from the building for me.

Hi DK
Medical : I like it. The DoF really pulls me to the text and the addition on the can behind is great for context.
Religion : the demise of religion, great title and matches the sense of abandonment of the place.
Gemetric : Nice textures and colours, simple but very effective, I like it. Again another I wish I'd thought of.

I prefer it on flickr. lots of texture, good idea but a bit uninteresting perhaps?

Hi DK :) Nice bit of close up there for Medical, and I like the idea of the paint can at the side, I think it would look a bit lost without it.

Religion, ...shame you cant see a bit more of that archway, but a great slant on the theme.

Geometric ....I like this one, it has an abstract feel to it, I can imagine it in the Tate gallery and lots of people looking at it to find a hidden meaning

Hi DK.
Medical - Very novel response and excellent focus on the word "medical"
Religion - What a great playground for photography that ruin is. I could spend many hours exploring angles and light and things. Wish it wasn't so overgrown though - takes too much character away from the construction.
Geometric: Obvious really ... why didn't I even think about a brick wall Doh! That is one nice image, nicely detailed and vibrant colour.

Hi DK, Dulux trade diamond matt, used it myself cant say I ever read the safety warning, thanks for pointing that out, how dangerous can it be :wideyed:

Religion, I do like a ruined monastery/church I would like to see a bit more of the left of it rather than the tree on the right

Really like the bricks as mentioned above really hard to get straight lines from a lens there is usually alway a little lens distortion, thats really good, nice detail

Hi DK.
Religions - Really like this one, great colours, nice angle, great detail. Is it an old abbey?
Geometric - Seems a bit marmite to me. Technically great with excellent colours, level, no pincushioning etc., but somehow it doesn't 'zing' for me.

That's no ordinary brick wall ... probably the most ungeometric brickwork ever. Perfect.

Nice detail too.

Demise of religion, hmmm, it's on theme, and rich colours, but, I'd like to see a title more of the building...not that you could start hacking the foliage off :)

Geometric, nice idea, strange, but I find myself just staring at the wall :hungover:

Cheers.

Religion is really nice, great composition, colours are lovely and I can just imagine being there :)

Geometric, fab! Great idea simple but really effective. The contrast between the colours makes it easy and interesting to look at :)

I missed a couple:

Medical ... interesting idea, and interestingly strange vertical narrow DOF  but ....

demise of Religion ... great idea, nicely shot. (y) But personally I find that leaning, sun-bathed bit LHS a bit distracting and would be inclined to crop it.

Geometric - Love the textures in this shot and the way the colours leap out at you.

Medical - Well spotted and, yes, the other tin gives it context (y)

Religion - I like it......but....... I want to see more of the LHS

BLIMEY... look at all these to catch up on lol !!! - Quick run through :)

Wow love your geometric, those shots are harder than they look you have the grout lines perfect (y)
Thanks Ruth :)

For support definitely #1 although #2 could work for geometric as well ;)
Good point, it always happens like that doesn't it Ahhhhh :)

Medical it took me a while to see - but then I'm looking on a phone with dodgy internet connections so it could just be me!
:You need a BIGGER phone :D

Religion I think is very symbolic and has great colour but the mass of green in the middle distracts a bit from the building for me.
Agree it does a bit too much doesn't it, but passable for me :)

Hi DK

Thanks again :)

We all see shots that we wish we had thought of !!!

I prefer it on flickr. lots of texture, good idea but a bit uninteresting perhaps?
Bricks uninteresting - How DARE you lol

Hi DK :) Nice bit of close up there for Medical, and I like the idea of the paint can at the side, I think it would look a bit lost without it.

Yeah such a lovely old building underneath !!!

Geometric ....I like this one, it has an abstract feel to it, I can imagine it in the Tate gallery and lots of people looking at it to find a hidden meaning
You wanna buy it then  - seriously, thanks that's nice of you to say :)

Hi DK.
Medical - Very novel response and excellent focus on the word "medical"
Cheers Carl :)
Religion - What a great playground for photography that ruin is. I could spend many hours exploring angles and light and things. Wish it wasn't so overgrown though - takes too much character away from the construction.
Very true mate, I wanted to get cloooose in but loads of nettles and was wearing shorts, chicken I know :D
Geometric: Obvious really ... why didn't I even think about a brick wall Doh! That is one nice image, nicely detailed and vibrant colour.
Thanks again Carl :)

Hi DK, Dulux trade diamond matt, used it myself cant say I ever read the safety warning, thanks for pointing that out, how dangerous can it be :wideyed:
Haaaaa well spotted... now as long as you do not drink it you would be okay

Religion, I do like a ruined monastery/church I would like to see a bit more of the left of it rather than the tree on the right
So would I mate, so would I... there is a building that is in better condition there, spoil sports :(

Really like the bricks as mentioned above really hard to get straight lines from a lens there is usually alway a little lens distortion, thats really good, nice detail
Thanks mate, it did take lots of corrections in LR, moving sliders all over the shop :)

Hi DK.
Religions - Really like this one, great colours, nice angle, great detail. Is it an old abbey?
Not sure Tim, just a village church, the village itself only has circa 20 houses so something from WAY back, the windows look huge !!!
Geometric - Seems a bit marmite to me. Technically great with excellent colours, level, no pincushioning etc., but somehow it doesn't 'zing' for me.
:p

lol - Thanks again Tim :)

That's no ordinary brick wall ... probably the most ungeometric brickwork ever. Perfect.

Nice detail too.
Ungeometric lol - Thanks mate (y)

Demise of religion, hmmm, it's on theme, and rich colours, but, I'd like to see a title more of the building...not that you could start hacking the foliage off :)
I was kicking myself mate, looked in the boot of the car to see what I had in there :D

[quoteGeometric, nice idea, strange, but I find myself just staring at the wall :hungover:

Cheers.[/QUOTE]Haaaaa I know what you mean, try editing it :)

Religion; nice colour and details. Like the composition showing the overgrown nearly overtake the building, demise of religion indeed. There are so many churches around this part turned into pubs or casinos.
Thatks Stan :)

Around here they are fine cuisine and Indian resturants Mmmmmmmmmmm Indian :)
Geometric; simple, abstract and on theme. Remind me of Pink Floyd's album!
Haaaaaaa yes, there sure was plenty more on this barn wall too !!!

Religion is really nice, great composition, colours are lovely and I can just imagine being there :)
Thanks Laura :)

Geometric, fab! Great idea simple but really effective. The contrast between the colours makes it easy and interesting to look at :)
Thanks again :)

I missed a couple:
:bat:

Medical ... interesting idea, and interestingly strange vertical narrow DOF  but ....
Really :exit:

demise of Religion ... great idea, nicely shot. (y) But personally I find that leaning, sun-bathed bit LHS a bit distracting and would be inclined to crop it.
Hmmmm another crop suggestion - Noted and thanks :)

Geometric - Love the textures in this shot and the way the colours leap out at you.
Thanks Jill :)

Medical - Well spotted and, yes, the other tin gives it context (y)
Thanks again :)

Religion - I like it......but....... I want to see more of the LHS
CAN'T :p

So I don't get too far behind, a quick snap...

Struggling for daylight in the evenings, so when I got home early the other day I had 5 mins with my camera before getting on the PC and working remotely, so have just done a quick edit.

I chose these objects as I liked the colours of the glass, the reflections etc considering the little amount of light there was, not the strongest of links but need to not get too far behind...

So here we have Wk 35 - old 'Fashion'ed bottles :)

Wk 35 - Fashion by TP DK, on Flickr

HI DK. I do like those bottles. Of course side on lighting with shadows thrown against a plain BG would be better but for all that, it's a lovely image for detail, reflections and colour in the bottles.
