weekly DK's 52 of 2016 - Week 52 'Celebrate" added and COMPLETED

Liking that a lot DK. Lots of horizontals too. To me, the RHS needs cropping a smidgen though :)
Cheers Ian :)

I did have it cropped to the right at first, BUT it is the shadow I did not want clipped so widened it again :)

Oh yeah, I like that a lot DK. A multi-compliance shot for the theme - wall, bench and figure. Nice candid, extremely well-spotted
Thanks a lot Carl

Really like that Dean love the lady lying on top of the wall. Plenty of horizontal lines with the wall and bench that brickwork is a bit wonky though[emoji12]

Works well Dean, lots of "horizontals" and the person adds a little something as well as all the textures in the image.
Simple and effective.

Horizontal - Lovely shot, bang on theme - nice model too!
I agree with the comment suggesting a slight crop to the right hand side - I think it would help balance things up a little. The elongated crop works well too! I think this is probably something I should look into...but the OCD in me always keeps my shots to the original ratio!
(y)

Effort - I love that to bits! So funny, so creative, so well executed! :)

Technology - So this is more of an anti-technology shot? Works for me. :)

Horizontal - One of my favourite horizontal shots! I really like how the woman looks with her hair all over the wall and her relaxed pose, and how she’s parallel to the really long bench. (Is it even real? I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a long bench!) Lovely, lovely image. Lots of nice horizontal lines in there!

Well spotted, Dean, first thing I saw was the gap on the LHS and RHS with the edges of the bench. Glad you didn't even them out as you'd have lost the end of the shadow.

Cheers.

Lucky find, or is that a prop/model you take with you. :) Top Horizontal shot DK ... it's got it all.

Effort: Great fun shot well composed.
Technology: The colours and the simplicity of the shot makes this a favourite for me.
Horizontal - Super original shot which certainly fits the theme.

  Really like this! All those horizontals of the bench and the wall, and that great shadow under the bench, but it's the perfectly placed horizontal human that really lifts it to the top of the tree and then your wide crop is the finishing touch. Very, very good; like it lots :)

That's a corker for Horizontal, Dean. I don't click through on many photos to flickr but I did on yours. I love the composition and overall feel of that image. Where on earth is that HUGE long bench?! Brilliant secondary subject though :)

I really like the way you've used the quite hard sunlight - the shadow on the bench works well and the lady being face-in to the sun means she doesn't get any ugly shadows cast. Very smartly done - even if you didn't set up the shot. Tiny suggestion would be to tone down the highlights on her skin a touch but that's a really minor quibble for what is an excellent photo

There is so much that's perfect for me about that shot - the little things like her hair colour changing at the line of the wall, the texture of that background, the stone wall with that great pattern and depth (helped with the hard lighting)... it's magnificent.

Well now DK..... I.. have looked at ur horizontal.... and there is some definite curves in..some of them lines... ....... really the only thing I focused on....... what?? There's the bench? Sure... fool me once.........oh..wait..... :/

Sorry all.... been even too manic to catch up here too... so here goes :)
I see what you mean. Perhaps even wider then?

Really like that Dean love the lady lying on top of the wall. Plenty of horizontal lines with the wall and bench that brickwork is a bit wonky though[emoji12]
Hahaaaa thanks David :)

Really meets the brief, well seen and captured
Cheers Chris :)

Thanks to the next Chris :D

Horizontal - Lovely shot, bang on theme - nice model too!
Thanks Matt :)

Thanks Again :)

I may try widen the LH side, as my OCD will not let me crop/clip the RH shadow on the floor :D

Spot on! The placing of the figure on the wall rather than on the bench makes this shot! Really like the balance that the crop gives the image. All together a great shot and well on theme!
Thanks a lot Richard :)

I'm with Emma on this one DK ...a real smasher of a shot ....composition is absolutely spot on.:clap:
Cool - thank you Susie :)

Like it, my first thought when I saw the image was 'did he lengthened the bench in PS?'.
Hi Stan :)

Well.... Nope, it is o natural, shot as seen, no photo trickery on the bench :)

Well caught with the person included it definitely adds interest to the image. My two pence worth; I would cropped out the right a bit more to make the bench more exact symmetry.
Nooooo I Can't clip the shadow :help:

Effort - I love that to bits! So funny, so creative, so well executed! :)
Cool - Thanks Sheylara

Technology - So this is more of an anti-technology shot? Works for me. :)
It is yes, got to be different when we can don't we - thanks again :)

Oooo thanks again :) :)

ANd yes, the bench is totally real, well it is all real, I did clone a post and some bricks out of the background to even the background :)

Well spotted, Dean, first thing I saw was the gap on the LHS and RHS with the edges of the bench. Glad you didn't even them out as you'd have lost the end of the shadow.

Cheers.
YAY !!! I knew somebody would see it... cheers buddy !!! :) (y)

Lucky find, or is that a prop/model you take with you. :) Top Horizontal shot DK ... it's got it all.
Thanks David :)

And... as if it would be staged !!!

Yes okay, it is my daughter, we tried loads of stuff on our seaside walk, this was by far the best result, having her sitting on the bench which was my first thing after the boats, really didn't have the same effect as this one :)

Effort: Great fun shot well composed.
Thank you Liz :)
Technology: The colours and the simplicity of the shot makes this a favourite for me.
Cool, thank you :)
Horizontal - Super original shot which certainly fits the theme.
And thank you again, and for the catch up :)

  Really like this! All those horizontals of the bench and the wall, and that great shadow under the bench, but it's the perfectly placed horizontal human that really lifts it to the top of the tree and then your wide crop is the finishing touch. Very, very good; like it lots :)
Ooo thank you Andrea :) (y)

Cheers Paul :)

The bench is on Gorleston-On-Sea Promenade, it's a great beach/prom, very old still and alweays busy, not like the huge seafronts like Great Yarmouth and Blackpool that are way to big for me :)

I really like the way you've used the quite hard sunlight - the shadow on the bench works well and the lady being face-in to the sun means she doesn't get any ugly shadows cast. Very smartly done - even if you didn't set up the shot.
Thank you... and yes I did set it up :)

Tiny suggestion would be to tone down the highlights on her skin a touch but that's a really minor quibble for what is an excellent photo
Thanks again Paul, and yes that does need doing a tad more I agree :)

There is so much that's perfect for me about that shot - the little things like her hair colour changing at the line of the wall, the texture of that background, the stone wall with that great pattern and depth (helped with the hard lighting)... it's magnificent.
wow... what can I say, but thank you

Love this shot DK

Phil
Cheers Phil :)

Hahaahaaa thanks Frank :D (y)

Hi DK, excellent take for the theme the best one I have seen so far, nothing to crit there
Wow !! thank you very much Allan :) (y)

Hi All... I'm Back from holiday, now caught up with work and home stuff so back into the wonderful hobby of Photography :)

VAST - Sorr, there a re a few here...

This theme was announced before I went on holiday, the last shot is a shot I nabbed one morning, did a bit of cloning, big crop and changed the colour of the balloon so it stood out better, not entirely happy with it hence it's last spot on my batch of images.

So first off a couple of Panorama's taken whilst in Rome, all are stitched together in LightRoom, this first one was 12 separate images :D

<EDIT> Damn... LightRoom was playing up so I have closed it and now it won't open again, so restarting PC :(

Right so lets try again... as I say a few here, please just choose your favorite I do not expect people to comment on all :)

First image, a mighty 12 images stitched together to get the best of the huge size of 'St Peters Basilica and Square' in Romes Vatican City...

My second image is of a huge decorated ceiling in the Vatican, there were sooooo many, but I feel this works nicely as an image...

My third image is of the inside of the Colosseum such an impressive and fascinating building for its age, not the best of views but for those that have been it's not the clearest of places so happy with what I got :)

And here is my last... and now boring looking shot, the balloon...

Vast 4 - Balloon by TP DK, on Flickr

Thanks one and All :)

And for last week I tried a couple of things whist in Rome but they did not really work... there again and after all it was a break with my wife this time and NOT a photography holiday, so I did limit the use of my camera (No tripod, filters or staying in the same spot for more than 5 minutes)

So this is a bit of a placeholder to keep me up to date (Bar this weeks to get) I do hope to do another before the week is out, most likely a macro, but in the meantime I like this as an image, able it a tenuous link to the theme :D

Wk 17 - a no so perfect and not smooth 'Rough' spiral staircase :)

I must say I did struggle to not over expose the skylight, it is very close to being blown too much, but hey this will do :)

Wk 17 - Rough by TP DK, on Flickr

Evening, Dean, looks like a wonderful place.

#1 Vast for me. The central columns is leaning slightly, but well composed and executed.

Rough, great detail on the staircase; looks quite hot at the top but as it was a romantic holiday and not a togging one you're forgiven ;)

Cheers.

Hi Dean. Vatican looks an amazing place. Hard to choose from those, particularly the first three but if pushed I think probably the Colosseum for the detailing and downward POV which makes the people look ant-like in scale. What a terrific job at stitching those 12 images for the Square and as for that ceiling WOW! Rough is beautiful too - amazing craftwork.

Vast - four very different pictures all fit the theme. I like the 1st best, and in the last (but not least) the little balloon emphasizes the vastness
rough - Beautiful shot, great detail in the carving

I agree #1 vast for me, really gives it sense of scale.

Rough - interesting choice for the theme, I like the architectural nature of it

Great images for Vast love all of them and would be hard pressed to pick a favourite

Rough lovely image some lovely details

Cracking set Dean, its tough to pick one, but I'm going for the 1st, nicely stitched, and processed (y)

Evening, Dean, looks like a wonderful place.
You ain't kidding mate, was well worth the visit :)

#1 Vast for me. The central columns is leaning slightly, but well composed and executed.
Thanks Andy :) - I was getting level blind after a while I kept adjusting manually and when I got that right the horizontals were out, so compromised :D

Rough, great detail on the staircase; looks quite hot at the top but as it was a romantic holiday and not a togging one you're forgiven ;)

Cheers.
Haaaa very true mate, ideally it would have been a few shots bracketed, but there were DOZENS of children running about and I was flat on the floor in the entrance as it was, waiting to get trod on or 'escorted' out of the building :D

Hi Dean. Vatican looks an amazing place.
The scale of it is unreal, and when I started thinking into the history in more depth, boy !!!

Hard to choose from those, particularly the first three but if pushed I think probably the Colosseum for the detailing and downward POV which makes the people look ant-like in scale.
Thanks Carl, I too like that one a lot, again the scale for the time it was built is awesome !!!

What a terrific job at stitching those 12 images for the Square and as for that ceiling WOW! Rough is beautiful too - amazing craftwork.
I'd love to take credit but the stitching was all down to LR, and agree with the stairs, stunning design - here is a shot looking down - UNEDITED I must add before I get crit for it :D

As you can see above, that damn fountain stopped me from getting a central image, that and the flow of people... damn inconsiderate :D

Vast - four very different pictures all fit the theme. I like the 1st best, and in the last (but not least) the little balloon emphasizes the vastness
Thank you Minx :)

rough - Beautiful shot, great detail in the carving
Thanks again :)

I would like to say they dont make them like this any more, but actually do not know how old this is...

I agree #1 vast for me, really gives it sense of scale.
Cheers Chris :)

Rough - interesting choice for the theme, I like the architectural nature of it
Thanks again... it was the best I could squeeze out of the few things I tried, and with time short it does the job for the time being, may add to a 'Re-Shoot' week :)

Great images for Vast love all of them and would be hard pressed to pick a favourite
Thank you Mark :)

Rough lovely image some lovely details
Cheers :)

Cracking set Dean, its tough to pick one, but I'm going for the 1st, nicely stitched, and processed (y)
Thank you Chris, the hardest work was the adjustments to rotate/horizontal and verticals to try and remove as much of the converging lines as possible, was quote fun really :)
